Winter is a call for eating lots of fruit and veggies to keep your immune and nervous system healthy, happy and strong.
A good way to do it is by preparing natural healthy drinks as this Rockmelon with strawberry Mexican style beverage (Agua fresca), that you can quickly and easily make at home and enjoy it with your favourite meal.
In Mexico, aguas frescas is a family tradition and a very important part of our eating experiences. Every day along with the main meal we put on the table a big jar of agua fresca made with fresh seasonal fruit.
A mix of fruits with different kind of herbs like mint, rocket, rosemary and even vegetables such as cucumber, celery and others is also very common when making aguas frescas.
This rockmelon with strawberry agua fresca is one of my favourite flavour combinations. For winter you can serve it at room temperature and it will still be tasting fresh and delicious. For warmer days, this drink will be amazingly good served over ice.
Here there is why I love so much this agua fresca recipe:
- Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, low in calories and a great favourite with all generations.
- Rockmelon is also a great source of vitamin C and dietary fibre, it’s high in folic acid and it’s full of potassium.
- It is fresh, quick, easy and healthy.
I hope you enjoy this Mexican agua fresca. If so, share the love and the recipe with anyone you think can benefit from this delicious and nutritious beverage.
