Hello! This is my very first post and I couldn’t be more excited, nervous, but also very thankful to have this new experience in my life and be able to share it with all of you.
I’m sitting here right in front of my computer, writing this introduction of myself and about my blog, and my hands are literally sweating, and my heart is pumping so fast. Pure happiness, I think!
The last time I had this kind of mixed feelings, was during my first day at my language school almost nine years ago, when I arrived in Australia. I was just about to start an English evaluation to know which level I should be allocated at. I was so scared that I couldn’t even speak for the first five minutes of the evaluation. And, I can’t really call myself a shy type of person.
At that time, everything was really new for me. New country, a new home, friends, and a totally new language to learn in my early thirties. It was something, I never imagined I could be able to do.
They were definitely challenging times. But also, it has been one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had in my life. And now, alongside my husband, I can call this beautiful country my home.
The idea of writing a food blog has been in my head for a while. After quitting my full time job and months of planning, it’s finally here. So, I think I can officially say now, “Welcome to my blogging world!”
My blogging motivations
As a Bachelor in Social Communication back in Mexico, I’ve always been attracted to write, especially journalism. My first big motivation for blogging is to challenge and push myself outside my comfort zone. I’ve created this blog as a tool to improving my writing skills.
My second motivation is my passion for food. At some point in my aussie life, I started to crave for Mexican food that I didn’t crave before because it was always available to me. Feeling homesick and frustrated about not being able to find real good options of Mexican food in Sydney, I decided to start cooking simple, but nutritious Mexican food based on my family recipes.
It didn’t take me long to discover how much I love and enjoy cooking. And, most importantly, how much I love eating, especially when I’m surrounded by people I love.
My last, but not least, reason for writing this blog is to honor my traditions, my roots and Mexican food, which is one of the most amazing and rich cuisines in the world. It has been named an Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
I’m not a trained chef, but I have a great cooking heritage and I’m so proud of it. My mum, one of my sisters, many of my aunties, my grannies and great-grandmums are and were all great cooks, formal and informal.
I feel very honoured to be able to share a little bit of my culinary history throughout this blog. I hope you enjoy this Mexican food journey as much as I do.
Thank you so much for reading.
